Asia Argento, born in Rome to a family that includes actors and directors, worked in both areas. When she was nine, Asia made her film debut with Sergio Citti in Sogni e bisogni. She was the lead role in Cristina Comencini's first movie Zoo (1988), as also being a member of Michele Soavi's cast for The Church (1989). Red Wood Pigeon, directed by Moretti in 1989, featured her role in the role of Nanni Moretti's daughter. Close Friends (1992), directed and written by Michele Placido was the film that launched Asia's acting profession. Asia was able to transition from young girl roles to mature and complex ones. Cannes International Film Festival received the film with great awe. The actress has produced three films with her dad, Trauma, The Stendhal syndrome, and Phantom of opera. In 1994, Asia decided to try her hand at the art of directing, and produced two short films: Prospettive in 1996, she produced a documentary about her father, and in 1998, she directed a documentary about the cult director Abel Ferrara, Abel/Asia (1998) that won an award at the Rome Film Festival. Asia was first introduced as a feature director in Scarlet Diva (2000). In this film, she also starred and authored the screenplay. The film came out in May 2000 in Italy and around the world. The film was given a special prize at the Williamsburg Festival of Film in Brooklyn. Anna Lou was born in 2001 following her directing some music videos. In 2002, she starred as Jean-Marc Barr's co-star The Red Siren (Olivier Megaton) and Vin Diesel was the star in Rob Cohen's thriller The Action. Asia also has a selection of stories that have been published in some of the most prestigious magazines.
